ENGWR 482: Honors Advanced Composition and Critical Thinking ENGWR 482 is a course in critical reasoning, reading, and writing requiring a high level of competence in English composition. Students will read, discuss, and analyze complex texts (essay and book-length works) reflecting a variety of cultural, historical, and philosophical perspectives. The course includes inductive and deductive reasoning, analysis of fallacious reasoning, and use of persuasive language. The minimum word requirement of 6,500 words will be divided among at least four formal essays, ranging from 1,000-3,000 words each, two of which will include primary and secondary research and MLA format. This course is taught as a seminar; several group and individual class presentations will be required. (C-ID ENGL 100)
